Thumb Art

Check this out! This artist named Dito Von Tease ( yep, i read that wrong at first too) creates art out of his thumbprint! It's phenomenal! The thumbs are turned into portraits of famous people, and the amazing thing is, you reconize them almost instantly! This was so refreshing to me, i love art that is just out there to have fun. Not everything in life needs to be so serious, and sometimes my degree gets me a little down because of the amount of introspection and critiquing that goes on, when i got into art to have fun and be happy! Don't Trust Your Eyes

 


With all the news about Hurricane Sandy, i'm sure i don't need to explain to any of you about what is happening. I became aware of this situation due to the radio and TV coverage along with word of mouth. Yesterday it seemed like more and more people were becoming aware of what was in store, and the social media outlets blew up. I noticed that every other post on Facebook was in regards to Hurricane Sandy, a mix of witty observations, well wishes, and moving photographs. I noticed a couple of the same images that have been posted, shared, and commented on.

Turns out these images are fakes.

This got me thinking. Of course, at first i mentally slapped myself for being so gullible, and for believing the first thing that i saw, but then i realized that this has probably happened to me more often than i'm aware of. I saw these images, got caught up in the fright of what was going on, and took them as being legitimate. I completely trusted that they were 100% factual! In fact, if i hadn't have seen this article, i would never have known that the images are fakes.

Check the site out and see if you have been duped like i did!

This brings up the bigger issue of online validity. We can post/say/share/like/pin whatever we want to online, and that includes things that are fake or lies or rumors. This experience has definitely taught me to check my sources, and be aware that even photographs can be misleading too.
